I’m Imogen Tinkler, an artist dedicated to exploring the connections we form with others through my ongoing project, "Faith in Strangers."

As Ibn Battuta beautifully stated, "Traveling - it leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller." This sentiment resonates deeply with me, as my experiences while traveling have shaped my understanding of community and connection, inspiring me to reflect on the stories within the place I currently call home—Whitstable.

Faith in Strangers: Whitstable, is the first in a six-part Zine series that tells the story of this vibrant coastal town. Whitstable is renowned for its native oysters, its role, thanks to two local brothers in the development of the diving helmet and suit as well as having the world's first railway bridge.  There is so much to discover: from its charming pirate alleyways to the striking graffiti from Catman, and, of course, the remarkable individuals who make this place special.

You can now pre-order your very own first edition signed copy of my Faith in Strangers: Whitstable Zine. Limited to just 100 copies, this collection captures the essence of Whitstable and the connections within it. Order your copy by the  10th of October 2025 and see your name printed inside. As a thank you to my founding supporters. Why not buy one as a gift - its a nice change from a bottle of wine! Imagine their delight seeing their name inside!

Launch day: Saturday 18th of October 2025.

Great but what is a Zine?

A zine, a contraction of ‘fanzine,’ traditionally embodies a DIY ethos, often crafted through photocopiers or home printers, and seamlessly blends text and images into a visually compelling narrative.

Originating in the early 20th century with fanzines like 'The Messenger,' which highlighted African American politics and culture, zines flourished during the punk rock movement of the 1970s and 1980s as a vital outlet for alternative voices and underground communities.

Over the decades, they have evolved into dynamic platforms  fostering creativity and connection with unapologetic authenticity.
